    SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

The Women's Southern Golf Association has established a scholarship fund to assist deserving female golfers residing in the 15 southern states and the District of Columbia to obtain four years of higher education. The WSGA Scholarship was first awarded in 1971 to Hollis Stacy to assist in going to the USGA Junior Championship. In 1973, the first actual scholarship award was to Martha Jones of Decatur, Alabama

This year a scholarship of $3,000 will be available along with a commitment of $3,000 for each of the three succeeding years of undergraduate school, not to exceed a total of four years. Renewal of the scholarship will be subject to an annual review of the recipient's performance, interest and need. The recipient must maintain a 3.0 grade average out of 4.0. This is not an athletic scholarship, rather it is an academic scholarship awarded to a golfer. Current awards are to four girls annually (one added each year as one graduates).

The scholarship program will be administered by the members of the WSGA Scholarship Committee. The amount of the scholarship will be paid directly to the accredited college of the applicant's choice, one-half to be paid at the beginning of the first semester and the remainder to be paid upon notice that the applicant has met the minimum required grade point average and has been accepted for the next semester. The decision of the Scholarship Committee will be based on the submitted data and personal interview.
