WSGA 2018 Mid-Amateur – Monday Update

Linda Jeffery of Prattville, AL and Kristyl Sunderman of McDonough, GA shared Medalist honors in the qualifying round of the 4th Women’s Southern Golf Association Mid-Amateur Monday at NorthRiver Yacht Club in Tuscaloosa AL. The top two shot rounds of 75.

Jeffery is a former All-American at Hardin Simmons and is a much-decorated golfer in the U.S. Air Force. Sunderman, who started her collegiate career playing at UCLA for 2 years, transferred and played the rest of her college golf at TCU. She is currently the golf coach at the University of South Carolina Beaufort.

Four players claimed the next four seeds with scores of 77. Defending champion Tanna Richard of Ft. Smith, AR shot an 84 in qualifying while last year’s runner-up and home course favorite Susan West posted an 83.

The top 32 scores from Monday’s qualifier comprise the Championship Flight with the last 8 making up the First Flight. Match play gets underway Tuesday morning and continues through the end of the week. Tuesday’s winners will move on to the winner’s side of the bracket while losers will move to the Consolation side of the bracket.
