Plans are being finalized for next month’s 2017 Women’s Southern Golf Association Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championships. The events will be held June 12-16 at the Granada Course at Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
Spots are still available in both tournaments and potential competitors are urged to go online here and complete their application today. Housing is available for amateur participants. If you are interested in staying with a host family please contact Entry Chairman Susan Hall at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Mid-Amateur field is shaping up to be very competitive with some outstanding players heading to Arkansas to contend for the title. These include reigning WSGA Senior Champion Julie Harrison of Louisiana, former WSGA Amateur and Senior Champion Taffy Brower of Florida, former USGA and WSGA Senior Champion Carolyn Creekmore of Texas and a contingent of Arkansas players led by Tanna Richard of Ft. Smith.
Among those returning in the Amateur field are University of Georgia’s Gabriela Coello of Winter Garden, FL. Gabriela was a semifinalist in 2016. Also returning is 2016 junior medalist Elle Nachmann of Boca Raton, FL. Elle made it to the semifinal round of the Championship Consolation last year.
Tournament Chairman Linda Carter talked about the scenic Granada Course this week saying it features “great views, large driving areas and excellent practice facilities.” Carter urged players to get their entries in as soon as possible adding, “We look forward to our players enjoying their week in Arkansas.” The chairman can be reached at email@example.com for further information.
