Entries & Eligibilities
Entries Open:
 March 7, 2022, at 9:00 AM (CST)

Withdraw Date: May 23, 2022, at 5:00 PM (CST)

Withdraw Procedure: Prior to the entry deadline players looking to withdraw should do so online through their Golf Genius profile to receive an immediate refund and withdrawal. After the entry deadline has passed players should either call Amy Worthington at (214) 468-8942 or email aworthington@txga.org. Only withdrawals on the day of the competition should be directed to the host club golf shop.

U.S. WOMEN’S OPEN QUALIFIERS: If you enter the Women’s Southern Golf Association Amateur Championship and qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open you will receive a full refund of your entry fee.

Entry Fee: $325 per player

Refund Policy: If a player withdraws prior to the entry withdraw date she will receive a full refund, less a $25.00 administrative fee. If a player withdraws after the withdraw date has passed, the player will not receive a refund.

Eligibility: Entry into the WSGA Amateur/Mid-Amateur Championships is open to female amateur golfers who have a WHS Handicap Index not exceeding 6.0 for the Amateur and 18.4 for Mid-Amateur and who are members of the WSGA through a WSGA member golf club, women’s golf organization, or a college/university in one of the fifteen southern states or the District of Columbia. Players who have not reached the age of 25 as of June 6, 2022, must compete in the Amateur Championship. Players who are 25 and above as of June 6, 2022, may compete in either the Amateur or the Mid-Amateur Championship and must indicate on their entry form in which Championship they plan to compete.

Entry Procedure: The number of players in each Championship (Amateur & Mid-Amateur) will be determined by the number of eligible entries. In the event the championship becomes over-subscribed, entries by division will be accepted in order of handicap index based upon the Wednesday, May 4, 2022, World Handicap System Handicap Revision.

Exemptions: Each Women’s State Amateur Champion from the fifteen southern states will receive an exemption into the WSGA Amateur Championship. If the dates of said states Amateur Championship conflicts with the WSGA Amateur & Mid-Amateur Championship, the Allied Golf Association has the choice to use the exemption for a player who may not participate in the State Amateur and would elect to play in the WSGA Mid-Amateur Championship.

Championship Information

Field Size: The field is limited to 96 players.

Format: Match Play – Flighted after 18-hole Stroke Play Qualifying Round.

Divisions: The low 32 Amateur (approx. 6,000-6,300 yards) and Mid-Amateur (5,700-5,900 yards) Qualifiers will constitute the Amateur & Mid-Amateur Championship Flights. Any ties for last place in the Amateur or Mid-Amateur Championship will be decided by a hole-by-hole play-off held immediately after the Qualifying Round. The remaining players will be divided into flights determined by the number of entries. Ties for the last place in these flights will be determined by the order in which the scorecards are returned. All players eliminated in the First Round of Match Play may participate in an 18-hole Stroke Play Consolation Round on Wednesday, June 8.

For those players in the Mid-Amateur Championship who do not qualify in the low Round of 32, the committee reserves the right to shorten the yardage for continuing matches.

What’s Included: The entry fee includes one practice round, the qualifying round and two rounds of tournament play with carts, practice balls, club gratuities, and lunch each championship round.

Registration Information: Player registration will be held on Sunday, June 5 between 7:30 AM and 1:30 PM. All contestants must register in person. In case of an emergency, players unable to attend registration, please call Amy Worthington at (214) 468-8942.

Practice Round Information: Each player is allowed one (1) complimentary practice round at Hunting Creek Country Club on Sunday, June 5. Players must contact the host club golf shop after May 23 and identify themselves as 2022 WSGA Amateur/Mid-Amateur Players to schedule a practice round.

Additional Practice Round Information: Players may arrange additional practice rounds by contacting Hunting Creek Country Club at (502) 228-8129 on an individual basis one week prior to the start of the event, Monday, May 30. Additional practice rounds will be subject to Hunting Creek Country Club’s availability. Additional practice rounds are at the individual’s expense and are provided at a reduced rate by the WSGA and the host facility for $100 + tax/fees and tee times will only be after 11:00 AM.

Pairings Information: Pairings for the Qualifying Round will be available online at womens-southerngolfassociation.org no later than Friday, June 3 by 5:00 PM.

Special Awards
AMATEUR CHAMPION – The Amateur perpetual trophy will be awarded to the Amateur Champion.

MID-AMATEUR CHAMPION – The Betty Probasco perpetual trophy will be awarded to the Mid-Amateur Champion.

AMATEUR MEDALIST – The Evelyn Monsted perpetual trophy will be awarded to the player having the lowest qualifying score in the Amateur Championship.

JUNIOR MEDALIST – The Marty Webb perpetual trophy will be awarded to the player in the Amateur Championship who has not reached her 19th birthday before the end of the Championship and who has the lowest qualifying score.

MID-AMATEUR MEDALIST – The Marcia Mileti perpetual trophy will be awarded to the player having the lowest qualifying score in the Mid-Amateur Championship.

Prizes will also be awarded for each flight.

To ensure that competitors have the best possible experience when competing in the championship, it is helpful to be knowledgeable of the Women’s Southern Golf Association (WSGA) Policies and Procedures, Terms of Competition, and Local Rules (Hard Card), as established by the association. Cart Policy: Players must ride in carts during all championship rounds. Cart fees for all championship rounds are included in the entry fee. Carts are limited to two (2) riders at one time and two (2) carts per group.

Caddies: Personal caddies are not permitted during the championship.

WSGA Medical Cart Request Policy
Spectator carts are prohibited. However, spectators may request golf carts in accordance with ADA compliance standards. Requests for golf carts must be emailed to the Tournament Director, Amy Worthington – aworthington@txga.org supported by complete documentation and the required accompanying medical documentation specified in that form for all first-time requests. A request will not be deemed complete until all required information and documentation have been provided. This must be completed by June 3 at 5:00 PM.
