Entry & Eligibility Information

Due to administration error, registration for the Women’s Southern Golf Association Senior Championship at Old Waverly opened one hour before its published time. To be equitable to the whole field, the WSGA Committee has decided to redo registration on Monday, August 3rd, 2020 at 9:00am CST.

Entries Open: August 3, 2020 @ 9:00 AM (CST)
Entries Close: September 30th, 2020 @ 5:00 PM (CST)

Withdraw Procedure:  Prior to the entry deadline players looking to withdraw should do so online through their Golf Genius profile to receive an immediate refund and withdrawal. After the entry deadline has passed players should either call Amy Worthington at (214) 468-8942 or email aworthington@txga.org. Only withdrawals on the day of the competition should be directed to the host club golf shop.

Refund Policy:  If a player withdraws from the Championship, they will receive a full refund.

Entry Fee:  $325 per player

Eligibility:  Entry into the WSGA Senior Championship is open to female amateur golfers who have reached their fiftieth birthday by October 27th, have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 23.5 and who are members of the WSGA through a WSGA member golf club or women’s golf organization. Golf clubs or women’s golf organizations in the fifteen southern states and the District of Columbia are eligible to join WSGA. To join the WSGA, click here.

All contestants must have a handicap index computed under a USGA Handicap System and must be issued from a “golf club” which is licensed in the USGA Handicap System. Membership must be current as of the entry closing. A contestant may remit dues for her club and all club dues are non-refundable.

Entry Procedure: The field will be limited to 96 players. The entries of the top 32 players and ties with the lowest handicap index received by August 17, 2020 at 5:00pm (CST) will have priority entry. After August 17, 2020, all entries will be based on order of receipt.  If entry applications exceed 96 on September 30, a wait list will be established according to the date of entry. Entries may be accepted until October 7 at 5:00 PM if the field is not full on closing date.

Automatic entry will be given to the past three WSGA Senior Champions registered in the first two weeks.

Championship Information

Covid-19 Policies: We will provide players with all information related to Championship Policies in the days leading up to the WSGA Senior Championship.

Field Size: The field is limited to 96 players.

Format: Play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf and consist of 54 holes of stroke play.

There will be two (2) sets of tees (approximately 5700 and 5100 yards). Players must choose which set of tees from which they wish to play. The 2020 WSGA Senior and Super Senior Champions will come from those players who play from the longer yardage unless there are no super seniors competing at the longer yardage. Registration can be changed up until October 20th, 2020 by 5:00 PM (CST).

Flights will be determined by 36-hole scores, and the committee reserves the right to determine flight size based on number of entries. Awards will be presented in all flights.

What’s Included:
The entry fee includes cart fees, range balls, practice round, three rounds of tournament play, welcome reception, awards lunch, and prizes.

Registration Information: Player registration will be held on Monday, October 26th, 2020 from 7:00am to 2:00pm. Contestants must register in person.  Guest charges for social events must be paid at registration with cash or check. In case of an emergency and a player will not make registration, call Amy Worthington, 214-468-8942.

Practice Round Information: Each player is allowed one (1) complimentary practice round at Old Waverly Golf Club on Monday, October 26th. Players must contact the host club golf shop and identify themselves as competitors in the WSGA Senior Championship to schedule a practice round. Players may call (662) 494-8780 to schedule their practice round starting October 1st. Practice round tee times will be from 8:00am – 8:50am and 1:00pm – 1:50pm off of #1 and #10.

Championship Pairings:  Pairings for the first round will be posted on the WSGA website by October 23rd by 5:00pm. The pairings will be forwarded to the golf shop and players. Pairings will also be available by visiting https://womens-southerngolfassociation.org. Round 2 and 3 pairings will be made upon completion of the previous rounds. The pairings will be forwarded to the golf shop and players.

Prizes & Special Awards: The Katherine Graham Senior Trophy will be awarded to the Champion. The Super Senior Trophy will be awarded to the contestant who has reached her 70th birthday by October 27th and has the lowest 54-hole gross score in Championship Division. The Super Senior Winner will be awarded in the Tournament Division.

Prizes will be awarded for each flight.

To ensure that competitors have the best possible experience when competing in the championship, it is helpful to be knowledgeable of Women’s Southern Golf Association (WSGA)  Policies and Procedures, Terms of Competition and Local Rules (Hard Card), as established by the association. Cart Policy: Players MUST ride during the championship. Each player will have their own cart for each round of the Championship.

Caddies: Personal caddies are not permitted during the championship.

WSGA Medical Cart Request Policy
Spectator carts are prohibited. However, spectators may request golf carts in accordance of ADA compliance standards. Requests for golf carts must be emailed to the Tournament Director, Amy Worthington – aworthington@txga.org supported by complete documentation and the required accompanying medical documentation specified in that form for all first-time requests. A request will not be deemed complete until all required information and documentation has been provided.

*The Final Round pairings will be based on Flights, determined by 36-hole scores, starting with the Championship Division followed by Tournament Division.
